The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued Facebook a maximum fine of $662,000 for the data privacy scandal involving the British firm Cambridge Analytica. The ICO said the company had failed to protect users’ data and wasn’t transparent about how that data was harvested. It will also bring a criminal action against Cambridge Analytica’s defunct parent company SCL Elections.
