Jack Ma-led Alibaba has bought Chinese chipmaker Hangzhou C-SKY Microsystems to aid its cloud-based business for internet-connected devices. “Alibaba aims to empower different industries through our cloud-based IoT solutions, in which chips play a significant role,” a company spokesperson said. This comes after the US banned American firms from selling chips to Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE.
